Events

Here at LaPorte United Methodist Church, we like to reach out to the community with many events for people to come out and experience. Come join us for one of these events listed below!

Jubilee Service

It's time for the Jubilee Service! On the fourth Sunday of every month, we plan to have a Jubilee Service which includes a group of church members leading us in songs of praise to God with their keyboard, drums, and guitar. We encourage you to come and bring a friend!

The life and Ministry of the messiah

Want to fight the winter doldrums? Consider joining an 8-week Bible study on "The Life and Ministry of the Messiah." It is a video series by Ray Vander Laan which brings you new insights into Jesus' ministry. The study group will meet on Wednesday afternoons at 1pm starting on January 16th at Laporte UMC. Come learn something new or refresh your memory with this enjoyable study. Please call LaPorte's church office at 458-5717 or Mary Eddy at 440-453-9771 to reserve a study guide book for yourself.

Funeral for a gangster

murder mystery theater

Step back into the past to join the Mob sendoff for the late Vito “The Gut” Marzetti at the speakeasy “Ruby’s Place.” There the grieving family is holding “services” for the Don. They include Joey “The Lump” Marzetti, Frankie “Marbles” Marzetti, the proprietor of the club, Ruby “Fingers” Marzetti, and, of course, Lena, the “Gut’s” heartbroken widow. It’s up to the audience to make like detectives to solve who murdered Vito (after his third helping of Moo goo gai pan). He wasn’t called “The Gut” for nothing. Feel free to dress with a nod to the days of speakeasies or certainly for a not so serious funeral.
