Here at LaPorte United Methodist Church, we believe in the ongoing education of members. This is why we offer many activities throughout the week to learn about the Bible, what it means to be a Christian, and how we should be more like Him.
Ephesians 6:18 states: "And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord's people."
Our 6:18 Prayer Group (established by Rev. Jonathan McCleery) has been meeting one evening each week for many years. Our evenings and attendees have varied, but our purpose remains: "Keep on praying for all the Lord's people." Please consider joining us! We would love to have you!
We are living in a challenging time, but being in the company of fellow believers for prayer in the quietness and holiness of our sanctuary is a blessing to the soul. We currently meet on Mondays at 6:18 p.m., discuss any concerns or burdens on our hearts, any prayer requests (as well as those in the altar prayer box), then present them to our Lord. Some pray aloud and some offer support with their presence and faithful, prayerful spirit. Please come and join us as we put our faith into action through prayer and fellowship!
The Wednesday Ladies' Bible Study has resumed meeting at the church. The Wednesday morning Ladies’ Bible Study is currently reading Finding God Faithful, a study of the life of Joseph, from 9:30am to 11:00am. Pastor Baker is leading them. All are welcome to join!
Starting January 5 at 9:30am, the Ladies’ Bible Study will begin a study entitled, “No Wonder They Call Him the Savior”. If you are interested, please call the church office to order a book.
The Men's Study has assumed a hybrid format. Please email email@example.com for information on how to join remotely.
All men are welcome to join as we explore and discuss scripture and how we are experiencing God in our lives.
The Sunday morning men's Bible study has begun a new 52 week devotional study through Mark's gospel. Written by Presbyterian scholar Dr. Matthew Everhard, it is a great study for families or individuals. It is a resource that builds on biblical foundations which leads the reader into regular recitation of the Ten Commandments, the Lord's Prayer, and the Apostle's Creed, not to mention fulfilling prayers from the Psalms. The repetitive usage of the aforementioned resources helps to instill them into our hearts and minds. If followed as planned, the study will add richness and depth to any believer's life. If you are looking for personal or family devotion this is an excellent choice. Each week is an independent study so it can be started at any time!
The men would love for you to join them, or get a book to use yourself or with your family! If you would like a free book please contact Beth in the church office.
Here at LaPorte United Methodist Church, we believe that Sunday School is not for children but for adults as well. This is why we offer two adult Sunday School classes, one modern and one traditional. In addition to these we offer children's Sunday School which are put into different classes by grade.
